INDIAN COVE MARINA

HARTSTENE POINTE

HISTORY

When Quadrant developed Hartstene Pointe back in the 70's many purchasers of the property believed they were promised a marina. A settlement was reached and a 20 slip marina built. Several years later property owner surveys went out seeking interest to enlarge that marina but the surveys failed. So 100 property owners put forth the funds ($400,000) to build the current 110 slips. The agreement made with HPMA was that those property owners hold the leases for 25 years and the operation of the marina would be maintained by the lessees at no cost to HPMA. That time was extended in 1996 for another 10 years, until May, 2017 because the leaseholders put forth all the funds to pay for the dredging ($250,000). The moorage slip assessments paid annually by the lessees supports the maintenance, insurance, office assistance, Harbormaster, and Washington State Shoreline Lease. Residual funds are set aside for future dredging, major repairs, etc.

USE OF INDIAN COVE

Besides the 104 slips held by property owners there are six 20ft. MARINA SLIPS. These slips were acquired by the Moorage Committee to insure a clear channel in and out of the marina. The Moorage Committee rents these slips to property owners until we near a need for dredging. (They are along the entrance to the marina that with time fills with silt). Demand for these slips is very high and they are currently rented. If you wish to be placed on a waiting list, please contact the Harbormaster. There is also TRANSIENT MOORAGE on the front just inside the breakwater. This moorage can be used by contacting the Harbormaster for reservations and filling out the required paperwork in the black mailbox at the base of the gangway. If a guest of an owner wants transient moorage, the property owner should contact the Harbormaster since the property is billed, not the guest. Funds from the MARINA SLIPS and TRANSIENT MOORAGE help to maintain Indian Cove Marina.

MARINA POLICIES

All lessees should be aware of the marina policies. These are available in the HPMA office for $1. The Harbormaster works one hour a day, a few hours more as needed during peak summer times. It is the Harbormaster's job to enforce the policies. HPMA maintains the picnic area and Patrol personnel assist in both areas.

BUYING OR SELLING MARINA LEASES

Only HPMA property owners can lease or rent slips. The buying and selling of slip leases is between those individuals, with the proper paperwork obtained from the HPMA office. The Harbormaster's only involvement is verifying the correct length and width of the slip on that paperwork and verifying the boats in slips are registered to property owners. Leases for sale or rent are listed on the bulletin board in the Hartstene Pointe Clubhouse and on our website.

NO BOATS, KAYAKS, CANOES, ETC. FOR RENT

All the boats on the water or stored on the property are privately owned. This is a private facility for pleasure boating purposes only. The moorage or its common area is not to be used for commercial activity of any type.

BOAT RAMPS

There are two boat ramps; one is located off Chesapeake Drive and the other in the Lagoon. These are not a part of the Indian Cove Moorage but are maintained by HPMA. Tide charts should be considered when using both ramps, especially in the lagoon.
